Commoners Commoners in the Empire are allowed to wander the shires and settle as they please, so long as they do not cause trouble in either the mortal or fae affairs of the shire in which they dwell. They do not pay dross taxes, though if residents of a freehold, they are expected to pull their weight within the holding with chores or duties fitting to their abilities. Sam Hunt One of the Empire's most famous changelings, Sam Hunt is also regarded as one of New Zealand's most prominant poets of the last century. Though a satyr to the bone, his dablings in the mortal world have seen him perform on stage numerous times and also on national television. His ecentricities are legendary as is his peculiar style of poetry unseen elsewhere. Hunt calls many places home, but of late he seems to have settled in Hawke Shire for the time being. "I've wandered this country for Isle to Isle, And ferried 'cross the 'straight. Got a million kiwi memories, But the best's the one I ate." Caloathe Orn Possibly the oldest fae in the Empire, Master Orn arrived with the first mortal settlers in the Empire and has remained ever since. It is rumoured that he may in fact be siochain and indeed it is difficult to ascertain the true level of his decrepitude for he is a sluagh. Rarely seen these days, Master Orn is known to frequent Hamil Shire and Dun Shire and is probably the most knowledgeable lore master in the Empire. He also has a vast store of treasures gleaned from the sidhe invasions of the '70's and many loyal informants throughout the land. Other rumours place him at the head of the Shadow Court in the Empire, but this hogswill is hotly denied by the sluagh and he denounces the Shadow Court as a tale to frighten naughty childlings. Detrius Moth Another sluagh, though only a wilder, Detrius is something of a prankster and trickster and well known for his dealings with the Vampires of New Zealand. Masquerading as a "Malkavian" he has garnered a few less than sane allies within the Tauranga area, and even managed to converse with the bound wraiths of a Vampire of some unknown clan. Probably the most knowledgeable on vampire lore, Detrius nevertheless admits he has finally realised how little he knows about the 'kindred' and their ways after studying them for several years. Nug and Zeke The former is a rather dense troll of mammoth proportions and the other is a cheerful satyr of respected singing ability. Both dwell in the Hamil Shire, but tend towards the eastern edge of it where they belong to a small motley of commoners. Nug, while mind-numbingly stupid has the benefit of a chimerical sock puppet that is considerably smarter than he is. Zeke on the other hand (or 'Mister Firefly' to others) is quite intelligent, but is hampered by a nasty unseelie side that is quite the reverse of his normal mediatory ways. The Tauranga Motley (as they call themselves) keep mostly to themselves, but have been known to aid Duchess Althea once or twice.
