Direct Render

For information, see Direct Render on page 373 of the Rendering in Alias book.

Direct render is a convenient way to launch and monitor one or more batch renders while working within Alias. Direct render opens a new window on top of the active window, and renders that window's view using one of the four stand-alone renderers (renderer, raytracer, powercaster, or powertracer) in one of five render modes (Raycaster, Raytracer, Hidden Line, Powercaster, or Powertracer).

Limitations Fixed

The following limitations are fixed:

  • There was a 8 k resolution limit for rendering. This resolution limit has been removed so that images greater than 8k by 8k can be rendered.
  • Previously, it was not possible to get shader glow through raytrace reflections and refractions. This limitation has been fixed.
  • Solid and projection textures did not motion blur well, and produced some poor image quality. This limitation has been fixed so that textures are now blurred properly.
