Display of Normals


See Changing Polygon Display Styles in the Polygonal Modeling in Alias book.

You can now control how normals are drawn for polygons. Use the Object Style Options in the Polygon Control window.

Note: To see the normals, turn on the Normals option in ObjectDisplay > Control - or use the Poly Shading > Flip tool.

RTG Translator Update

The RTG 2.0 Direct Translator provides the following additional options for RTG conversion:

  • File content: matrix decomposition and output angles degree.
  • Animation options: all nodes.

PlayStation HMD Translator Update


See Using the PlayStation Translator in the Games Data Translator in Alias book.

The Sony PlayStation translator now enables you to translate to the HMD file format. Geometry output is supported.


VRML2 Translator Update


See VRML2.0 Translator Additional Options in the Games Data Translator in Alias book.

The VRML2 translator now lets you do vertex animation output. You can:

  • Define the number of animated frames between exported frames (using the Frame Step control).
  • Export vertex animation to a particular scene name (using the Export and Scene name controls).
  • Specify the numeric procession of data points.

Metacycle Bug Fixes


  • Previously, using snippets with the ALL or spaced options sometimes caused Alias to quit abnormally. This problem has been corrected.
