Splitting and Merging Vertices

Split and Merge affect the connectivity of polygons in a polyset.

  • Split separates a shared vertex into multiple vertices - one for each polygon that shares it. This effectively removes connectivity at the vertex, letting you perform independent operations on split edges or polygons.
  • Merge takes all active vertices that are in the same polyset and within a given tolerance, and merges them into one shared vertex, effectively reducing the vertex count of the polyset.

How to Use

Select Polygon Edit > Vertex to use one of the vertex tools or choose an icon in the Tool Palette:

The selection interaction for vertices is the same for both tools. Any active item that is not a vertex becomes inactive, and any active vertices (not including NURBS control vertices) remain active.
