What is RPC? |
- Release Positioning Centres
- Release: often a time, we feel slight aches somewhere in our bodies; these we jolly-well like to do without, through awareness of bodymind interactions to seek prevention, regulation or release
- Positioning: daily emotional tensions are accumulated into various body parts through structural integration or Rolfing; taking the viewpoint of TCM where the flow of vital energy, Chi or Qi is paramount to health & well-being; the imbalance of Qi along flow paths called meridians can be corrected through acupoints - positioning is the process of locating them
- Centres: the major accumulation regions of the body where latent toxic emotions have been stored & changing our bodily structure & energy flow

Why RPC? |
- The intrinsic nature of living entails physiological deterioration (aging) & emotional challenges (perceptions)
- The toil of living accounts for the disparity between our dreams & the reality
- Pressure living techniques is a heuristic account of dealing with these disparities
- My body - a case study
- The effect - accumulation of latent emotional energies with resultant integration into various parts of the body
- The need - to release these latent energies from our bodies
- The implication - locations of release positioning centres

How to locate these RPC's? |
- RPC are intrinsically personal, individual locations on the body
- We are the same species but with subtle differences that are magnified by external circumstances and internal structuring
- Hence, we can only guide a person to find the own RPC
- In order to locate the RPC, take note of the following:
- History:
be mindful of your bodily and emotional past; compare & contrast with the present à what & where are the differences & similarities?
- Variation of activities:
in the act of different activities, observe quietly within yourself; as if standing apart from your body & situation to observe "yourself" externally from other viewpoints; notice & feel the differences as well as the causes
- Shifting phenomenon:
be aware of the shifting phenomenon of bodily functions & emotions during the activity to cope with the demands of the act with respect to your perceptions & abilities
- Physiological sensation:
observant & compassionate (feeling observation) towards your body (the entire whole as well as each inch of your body surface from head to toe) as well as internal sensations (observe the rising & falling, the pulling & pushing, the warmth & coldness, the dryness & dampness, the stiffness & softness, the roughness & smoothness, the strength & weakness, the balance amidst the imbalance)
- With the configuration of history, variation, shifting & sensation (HVSS) in mind, look for the following:
- External signals:
compare what you intend to do & what you actually did - intention vs. realisation
- Internal states:
feel your inner body (under the skin) through the dislocation of your external senses from the environment factors - in other words, "see" like a blind, "listen" like a deaf, "speak" like a mute, "taste" like bland, "think" like a schizophrenic, "move" like the disabled & "breathe" like a fish
- Your RPC's are hidden within
- Apply calming, relaxation, massage & recuperative techniques on these RPC's according your needs & circumstances

My RPC's |
- As an example, the author provides herein his own proprietary RPC relaxation technique:
- RPC of the head:
apply excessive pressure & tension, maintain the extremely stressed state for a few breaths, then gradually release into extremely relaxed state (past nominal state at rest) over 2 times more breaths; relax the region between the eyebrows where concentration is highest
- RPC of the torso:
criteria - shoulders, unhidden chest & breathing stomach; stretching back & front, left & right, rotate CW & CCW, simultaneous motion, internal deep forced breathing past the nominal threshold in order to break the inertia caused by the latent tension into the gall bladder region, breathing intentionally kept loud but gradual, notice the various levels of air breathed in - top air: fresh, rejuvenating; middle air: nominal, maintenance; bottom air: stale, sickening
- RPC of the pelvic:
criteria - relaxed PC muscles; leg stretching & sit-and-reach to find the tensed PC muscles; let go of PC control by the almost urinating technique (i.e. feel the sensation just before the point of urinating - that is when the PC muscles are more relaxed); when sitting, ensure that the region between the testicles & anus is completely in contact with & lying on the seat
- RPC of the back:
criteria - strengthen back muscles & posture; bend 90 degrees & reach forward; tilt the butt upwards & feel the tensed muscles at the lower back; maintain for 60 breaths; lay down sideways; prop the body upwards using only the elbows & the outer edge of the feet; maintain for 60 breaths; continually straightening of the back & back-stretching of the arms
- RPC of the leg:
criteria - stable balance & firm leg muscles; sit-and-reach; leg-stretching; tip-toe on the edge of stairs & oscillate up & down; motion balance during travel rides using 3-point support analogy of the feet; similar to structural isolation from loaded vibrations, place spirit right at soles of the feet & ensure flexible waist support through deep calm breathing, loose stomach & relaxed PC muscles
- RPC of spirit:
criteria - maintain an inner core of peace; as opposed to fluctuating external circumstances, the inner core of peace embodies the complete wholesome calmness that is unique to an individual; it belongs to the low frequency range of the harmonics of life; it can be reached by the balance of the external signals & internal states using the analogy of the Chinese saying 以不變應萬變 - meet all perturbations with non-perturbations, meet all changes with non-changes
- How's your own RPC relaxation technique?
