A basketball player from a nearby high school, called Takeru, is attracting a lot of attention from the girls at Usagi's school. This includes Makoto, a new transfer student. Makoto saves Usagi from three basketball-playing thugs, which leads Usagi and Makoto to become friends. The thugs send Makoto a fake letter from Takeru asking her on a date, and Makoto stands at the meeting place all day waiting for him. Eventually the thugs appear and mock her for believing that Takeru would be interested in her. Usagi, Ami and Rei use their cellphones to transform into basketball players (with the most stereotypical "hip-hop" clothes you ever did see), and beat the three thugs at their own game. Meanwhile, Takeru does show an interest in Makoto, but it turns out that he has been possessed by a monster sent by Jadeite, and Takeru himself runs away in fear rather than helping her. This almost makes Makoto give up hope - her past has been full of loneliness, and these events make her feel that in the end she is always alone. However, by this point the other Guardians are aware that Makoto is the fourth Guardian, and Sailor Moon tells her to transform. She becomes Sailor Jupiter and defeats the monster. Now the Guardians are a team of four.
