High Court rules in favour of live exports | |||||||||
On 12 April 95, the High Court in London ruled that Coventry City Council had `no justification` for banning Phoenix`s lawful trade(veal flights) from Coventry Airport. Phoenix Aviation threatened to seek `substantial damages` from the local authority. After hearing the outcome, Jill Phipps brother Zab commented, "The verdict has come as no great surprise. We are saddened but it was predictable. No animal rights issue in this country ever gets a fair crack of the whip because the judges are part of the establishment. When you protest peacefully they ignore you. I think there will be alot more activity like attacks on the fences. Alot of people will think about getting more militant now." |
