Ambria was a planet where a great evil was kept a bay by a great Jedi master. This was four thousand years before the Rebel Alliance squared off with the Empire.
The planet sits at the heart of the Stenness Node. This node is a dense cluster of profitable mining systems whose inhabitants use wasp-shaped ore carriers to ply the shipping lanes. Ambria is a dry desert planet with plateaus and canyons that is girded by a spectacular set of rings that encircle the dusty brown orb in pulsating hues of brilliant violet.
Despite its striking appearance, Ambria is to harsh for colonization It was however a battleground for an epic clash between the forces of good and evil. Though the exact details are lost to history, the great Jedi Master Thon, a rare Tchuukthal (or Wharl) Jedi, defeated potential Sith spirits that threatened to consume the entire sector. The Jedi Master contained the sinister energy beneath Lake Natth and was unable to escape. This resulted in the dark side malevolence mutating the local life forms. This resulted in the form f the vicious flesh eating monstrosities called hssiss. Thon chose to remain on Ambria as a guardian and he continued to initiate others into the Jedi Order.
One of his most celebrated students was Nomi Sunrider. She arrived on Ambria was not what she had planned. Her Jedi husband, Andur, had been murdered and she wanted nothing to do with the force. She had come to deliver Andur's gift of lightsaber gems to Master Thon. He was able to persuade Nomi to stay and train with him, but she was still reluctant to commit herself fully.
When Thon's life was threatened by Great Bogga the Hutt, nefarious underlord of the Stenness Node, Nomi finally released herself to the force. Using elementary battle meditation, she put the Hutt's thugs and enforcers at each other's throats. Thon looked on with pride and Nomi Sunrider had become a Jedi.
Years later, during the devastating Sith War, Ambria was the site of an attempted assasination. Oss Wilum, once an eager disciple of Thon's wisdom and corrupted byt he vile Sith teachings of Exar Kun. Joining forces with the former Jedi Knight Crado, Oss returned to Ambria to slay his own Master.
Drawing on the powers of the Sith, Oss summoned two hssiss from the stagnant waters of Lake Natth and commanded them to tear the meat from Thon's bones. The old Tchuukthai, however, had vanquished this evil before. Flocks of terrified neeks scurried out of the way as the Jedi Master joined the fray. Faced with failure, Crado fled the battlefield leaving Oss behind beaten and shamed. Eventually Thon was able to bring Oss back to the light , the pain of betrayal never fully healed.
