     Neeks are tiny, reptilian herbivores and they are a skittish species. Since they are so small they are usually food  for predators, particularly their larger cousins the Hssiss. Their primary means of defense  against such  predators is their short sleep cycle. The average Neek will sleep only one or two hours at a time, so that at least a quarter of the population  remains awake at all times.

     These lizards have a unique skeletal structure. Unlike  some reptiles the Neek walk on their hind legs and their forelegs are smaller and are used as arms. They have tiny fingers that enable them to pluck vegetation. their long tails  give them extraordinary balance and acts as a stabilizers they run at speeds nearing sixty kilometers per hour.

     They have pleasant temperaments , but are extremely paranoid  and are easily startled. They travel in flocks, like birds and band together for protection and companionship. They take easily to sapient companionship, and some people are known to keep Neeks as pets. Even so they tend to remain true to their wild roots. Those who do keep them do so because of the Neeks perceptive skills. Their large eyes dilate allowing them to absorb light wave more effectively and view their surroundings in complete detail, even in low light. They also  have auditory receptors on their necks that capture sound waves..
