ROENTGEN track
diagnosis
1.) UNEXPECTED
since its the 1st song of the album, it should be a "su--" feeling
( like as the title say,
and unexpected, or surprised feeling)
and it shouldn't be too long. Although when I was writing the songs for
the album I didn't think
about the order, this 1st song i did intentionally write it this way.
The "Woon" sound that
echoes in the beginning is the sound of bells. (hyde likes bells so much!?)
The idea came from this Indian bell that i saw on the streets during the
campaign in Taiwan.
One of our staffs bought it and gave it to me, and I thought " Oh
i gotta use this somehow", and
finally i made use of it
2.) WHITE SONG
To begin with I had this orchestral theme at mind, but at the end it was
half half.
This song has a lot of thought and its pretty strong. I started writing
it like 2 years ago.
At that time, I wanted to see snow, but i was at a onsen at that time
and there's absolutely none.
So, I wrote a part of the song there. Then I couldn't finish it....and
it took a long time.
The lyrics are basically in english, but since the album's released in
Japan, somehow I wanan put
Japanese lyrics in it too. In this song, only the last 2 lines were in
Japnaese though....
Because I think the Japanese lyrics will be more remembered so I paid
more attention to it.
3.) EVERGREEN
the first song i wrote. It feels like a mini album.
4.) OASIS
When I still don't have a general idea of how the album's gonna be like,
I already wrote this song. For me, I see imageries of America, deserts..etc..
I used words like doors, Led Zeppelin etc to express this feeling.
5.) A DROP OF COLOUR
This is a song written for the movie "keiwashi", and when i
first looked at the image, I can't
fit it with any of the songs i've written so far. And somehow, it came
to a sudden point when i was
writing songs and felt like " OH!This is it!", and afterthat
I finished the song with some help from imagining the make up artist
and a girl in the four seasons of japan, I like that kind of world.
6.) SHALLOW SLEEP
It took me less than 2 weeks to write this song while i was promoting
in December.
I like have to get it done before christmas, and it was somewhat difficult...but
well, this kind of
song writing method i already mastered through Laruku.
7.) NEW DAYS DAWN
this song shows this kind of scary feeling, and its like a song from a
horror movie.
And the arranger was like lets make it more scary by adding in ghostly
sounds...
Anyway at the end we ended up thinking how to make it not scary and took
out this and that.
8.) ANGEL'S TALE
this is like a christmas song, i want some religious element in the album.
I can imagine pipe organs and stuff ^^
9.) THE CAPE OF
STORMS
I want a climax in the album, and I wrote this song.
Like a very broad and vast feeling....
recently I've been so into accordion and spanish guitars ( yeah i can
tell
ever since like ANEMONE ... there's been this..latin kind of feeling..haha)
This time I got one of the guitarist that i really like to play in this
song,
and the places that we originally did not intend to be him, we ended up
using him.
10.) SECRET LETTERS
it took around the same amount of time and effort as White Song.
and its got this feeling of " no matter what i gotta finish this"
in it.
