HD-DVDs and Blu-Rays are different that DVDs.  There is no anamorphic stretching at all.  Each frame is 1.85:1 aspect ratio, so movies that are shot in 1.85:1 use the entire resolution.  But 2.35:1 movies are once again subject to black boxes present on the disk.  This is an even more inexcusable omission than for DVDs, given the budding popularity of 2.35:1 screens.  2.35:1 screens?  What is that?  Well, go to the next section to find out!
