VUELTA A ESPAÑA 2000
The Vuelta 2000 counted on three decisive stages, that served so that Roberto Heras obtained the leadership. After the stage of the Lakes, see special of the stage , Heras snatches to Casero maillot by one second and in the Angliru, see special of the stage , takes an advantage on him from three and a half minutes.
ETAPA 14
Vuelta arrives at Asturias from Cantabria, after crossing part of the santanderina coast. In Asturias the Alto de la Robelllada is raised to finish in Los Lagos de Covadonga. For three years Vuelta have not finished at Lagos, as it could be seen inthe history stage. The pity about this rooeute is that is not passed theMirador del Fito, which, though it is never definitive, makes harder the stage.
ETAPA 15
The stage pass through the east-center zone of region (councils of Cangas de Onis, Parres, Piloña, Laviana, Nava), climbing two ports of second category (Collado de Arnicio and Falla de los Lobos) which are very far from the finish. Before arriving Gijón, the Alto del Infanzón (at ten kilometers to go) is raised.
ETAPA 16
After the great success of former edition (see the history of the stage), The organization again dares with this great end with La Soterraña
at the great final in the Angliru. Nevertheless La Cobertoria, has been removed because of the drop state, changing it by La Colladiella, a smoother ascent. Also are raised the Padrún and Santo Emiliano in which, if the weather accompanies, it will be a great celebration of the cycling at world-wide level.
