Written under the pseudonym, Max Montgomery. Max (sometimes called Maxmilian for proper imperial effect) was the battle-scarred tomcat whose territory included GD's home. GD would remove burrs from Max's coat, talk to him, feed him canned mackerel, and, on occasion, take him to the vet.  In return, Max permitted GD to use his name to help avoid possible conflict between the editors of National Review and Life where this review also was published, July 30, 1971, as "Unsung Man for All Media" under GD's authorship.
