Released October 30th., 2003.

Lot's of things happenin' these days, so lets get straight to it.

"Beautiful - A Tribute to Gordon Lightfoot" is now available. Check out my review, and links to all the artists who contributed to the CD by clicking here.

The Punters new CD "Fishermans Blues" is now available in general release through Avondale Music. Larry Foley was my guest on The Songwriters last week, where we talked about Avondale Music, and their role in the local scene. "They are dedicated to producing Newfoundland music for Newfoundlanders" Larry Told me. "As Newfoundlanders, we should all take pride in our heretage. This music is part of who we are. It's a celebration of life."

Hammingwell are taking their show on the road for the Month of November, including a stop over in St. Pierre, which should make for an interesting trip. Their Debut CD is still getting a "Warm" reception (Pardon The Pun!) but somehow the thought of those five guys set loose on St. Pierre makes me glad I'll he staying home! (ha ha ha)

Randal Arsenault of Dr. Zoo is back home after a little jaunt... "I just got back from a solo tour of the UK." he told me, "Did 5 shows in three weeks all over the UK and Ireland, and made a holiday out of it too. It was great fun." Randal did shows in support of Dr. Zoo's Debut CD, which is still going strong.

If you would like to pick up a copy of either of these CD's, (In person or online), just visit Fred's Records. They have the best selection of local music you're likely to find, along with all your favorites!

Meanwhile, the Newfoundland and Labrador Music Industry Association have released their list of Nominee's for this years MIA awards. The awards will be presented during the 2003 MIANL Conference and Awards Show early in November.

Low and Behold, a member of CHMR has been Nominated! Kevin Kelly, host of "Upon This Rock" was nominated for Media Volunteer of the Year. Kevin is a loyal supporter of Newfoundland Music, and his Nomination is a much deserved pat on the back for a Job Well Done. Way to go Kevin... and best of Luck!

In On Air news; The "Back at the Expo" segments are half way through their run, with the broadcast of the Brian Michael Bendis segment last week. If you would like to check out these interesting segments, just listen to "Meanwhile... Back at the Comic Book Shop" every Friday afternoon at 4:00 PM, on 93.5 CHMR FM, or online via MP3 Stream or Real Audio at www.mun.ca/chmr.

Big news for the Holiday Season... "A Downhomer Christmas" will be on the air again this Holiday Season. Grant Young at The Downhomer said "We at the Downhomer are proud to support campus and community radio by sponsoring 'A Downhomer Christmas' on CHMR-FM again this holiday season. We are hopeful that Terry (Parsons) and Gabriel (Pillar) will do the honors as well."

On a sad note, The Fat Cat was forced to cancel their sponsorship of 'The Blind Lemon Blues'. Matthew and I are trying to decide wether we keep going, or just move on. If you have a suggestion, e-mail me at [email protected]
