Another Month... another Update...

The Meigle Lounge in Seal Cove will be hosting a special Benefit Concert early in March, featuring Hammingwell. The boys (Seen here with my daughter Elizabeth) agreed to headline the show. Also appearing will be Shamrock and Terry Penney. All three recording artists are giving freely of their time to help raise money for 17 Month Old Rianne Fewer, who suffers from Leukemia.

Check Next Months News Update for pictures from the show! In the meantime... Anyone who would like to make a donation, can e-mail me for contact information, or phone Mary Butt at (709) 744-2876

It is official... Paul Thorn will be a guest on an upcoming episode of The Songwriters! The interview will be conducted by phone, some time in the next week, and the show will be broadcast early in March.

For those of you not familiar with Paul Thorn, he is a singer/songwriter and Artist from Mississippi. He was also a Professional Boxer in the 1980's, ranked in the top 30 in his weight class. On his website Bio, he says, "The highlight of my career was in 1987 when I fought four-time champion Roberto Duran in Atlantic City on national television. I didn't win the fight, but then again, few that entered the ring with Duran did." He eventually retired as a fighter, but Boxing's loss is our Gain!

He has 5 albums, three of which are reviewed in the reviews section of this web site. "Ain't Love Strange", "Short Street Package Store", and "Mission Temple Fireworks Stand" are all excellent albums, which you can order through his Website www.paulthorn.com or listen for him as my guest on the Songwriters, coming in March!

The Prior Scott Project have released their CD 'I'll Stay'. In a recent guest shot on The Blind Lemon Blues, Bernie Scott told me, "This was an entirely self produced effort, from recording to packaging! We even built our own shrink wrap machine to package the CD's." Their enginuity doesn't stop there! Their sound is uniquely their own... Check It Out!

The word about the Songwriters seems to be Spreading...

I heard from Don Stagg last week, about an impending CD release. Don is the songwriter and driving force behind 'Odonata', an Ontario based group that includes Anna Bateman, Ren Kennedy, Jozef Pilasanovic, and Gary Flint. They have a worldly sound, punctuated by two incredible operatic voices, and a clean production style, that captivates the imagination. I am hopeful to have them as guests on a future Songwriters... so watch for that!

I also heard from a young singer/songwriter from Nashville named Rayna Kay. She is a Roots Americana Folk Rock artist that has just released a new CD 'Moondust In My Hand', a copy of which is on it's way to me. Watch the Reviews section for a review of this CD... and keep tuned to the Songwriters for a show featuring Rayna Kay.

Many of the above mentioned artists have CD's available. If you would like to pick up a copy of any of these CD's, (In person or online), just visit Fred's Records. They have the best selection of local music you're likely to find, along with all your favorites!

In on Air News;

It seems my Guest co-hosts on the Songwriters have kinda petered out. Since the show I did with Bernie Scott 3 weeks ago, no one has come in to co-host with me. (I am beginning to wonder is its something I said, my Breath or just my BO) I will be inviting more people in!

Earlier this week I got an e-mail from Matthew, who is hopelessly lost in the wilds of Thunder Bay Ontario. He says he is doing fine, but looking for ward to getting home, and back on the Air at CHMR.

We miss ya Matthew! Hurry Back!
