Happy New Year all my Music Loving Friends!

With the New Year, we start a new season of The Songwriters. My first guest, live in Studio was Pamela Morgan on January 8th, to talk bout her Latest CD, Ancestral Songs. A collection of Traditional Songs of Newfoundland and Labrador, teh album is an accoustically based tribute to those wonderful singers and songwriters who were such a cornerstone to our provinces oral history.

The following week, Jim Fidler dropped into the studio to talk about his ECMA nominated album "Midnight Rover", which has been turning head since it's realease last year. "Sales are going well", Jim told me off air, "we are really pleased with the albums reception." Jim is also deeply involved in Republic of Avalon Radio, Newfoundland's First Podcast.

The following week, my guest was supposed to be Sean Panting, but due to unforeseen circumstances, whe was unable to me it in. In it's place, we re-broadcast the Omar & The Howlers show from last years Road Trip Series.

This week, My guest is Deal McTaggart, from Ontario. Dean is probably best known for his time with the Arrow's, back in the early 80's, and as the guy who wrote two hits for Amanda Marshall. He wrote Birmingham and Dark Horse. He now has a new album out called Shed My Sin.

In local music news, the ECMA's nominations list has been announced. This years Awards showcase will be held in Charlottetown, PEI, from Thursday, February 23rd., to and including Monday, February 27th., 2006. Among the Newfoundland Nomanees are Colleen Power, Duane Andrews and The Novaks have 2 nominations each. Other nominees include Jim Fidler, Jason Greeley & Kevin Collins, Crooked Stovepipe, Patrick Boyle and Great Big Sea... to name but a few! The ECMA's will be broadcast live on CBS television, so make sure you tune in and upport local music!

Many of the above mentioned artists have CD's available. If you would like to pick up a copy of any of these CD's, (In person or online), just visit Fred's Records. They have the best selection of local music you're likely to find, along with all your favorites!

In on Air News;

I have a new feature in the works for the Sunday Morning Hangover Cure. The feature album part of the show ill be replaced with a Feature Poet! Thats' right, poetry will become a regular featured part of the Hangover Cure. I have long been a poetry buff, and have even been known to write a few lines myself. Starting in February, I will be featureing 6 poems by new or unknown poets, from sites like Poetry dot Com, The Poets Workshop, and Soul Asylum Poetry. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but it promises to be an excellent feature!

Monday Nights have been interesting. The Cosmic Debris has been chugging along as per usual, and Blind Lemon has been bluesing out bigtime! I have joined several Online Blues Resources, and have lots of new matterial coming in. I will be featuring some great new Canadian Blues artists on the show over the coming weeks and months.

I had intended to get back into the in studio guest on The Songwriters, but part and parcel of the aforementioned Online Resources is increased access to major blues artists. I am currently working on lining up interviews with Julian Firth, Johnny Max, and Colin Linden... to name a few. Keep it tuned to The Songwriters find out more!

Well... That's it for this month! Take care and Keep the Faith!
