Released December 20th., 2004.

So are you ready? Got all the cookies baked, and presents wrapped? Is the Turkey out to thaw and the trimmings ready to go?

Of Course Not! It wouldn't be Christmas if everything went that easy! But in spite of everything that can go wrong, Christmas brings so many things that can go so right! So I hope everything is going smoothly... and here's the News :)

December kicked off with what has become a CHMR Christmas Tradition, The "GREAT CHMR DJ's CHRISTMAS CAROL SING!" on Monday, the 13th. This years show was sponsored by Parsons & Sons Transportation, who provided us with a pair of tickets to a St. Johns Maple Leafs game as a part of a Prize Package.

We also had an enthusiastic gathering of CHMR DJ's who were in great spirit's... if not Voice. They were joined by this years Special Guest, Ray Lake, who had everybody stamping their feet and clapping their hands, with some of his original music, and homespun sense of humor!

In the couple of weeks leading up to the Carol Sing, I was working on this years edition of "A Downhomer Christmas" (also becoming a Tradition at CHMR) This years show will feature 2 new songs recorded at CHMR's studios, exclusively for "A Downhomer Christmas".

The Cormier's came in and recorded "The Last Kiss, while the Palmer Girls recorded their version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", and Fergus O'Byrne came in to record a new opening of the show, and greeting from him. Of coarse, Dr. Chmer will be back, as well as a special segment on Mummering, and the usual great selection of Newfoundland songs of the season.

According to all reports, Kelly-Ann Evans CD release party was a blast! Unfortunately, due to work commitments, I was forced to miss it, but Keven Kelly, (Host of Upon This Rock) tell's me it was an incredible show! He also said the munchies were excellent... but the last thing I need is more food! *Wink Wink*

Kathy Phippard is home for the holiday's, and doing what she refer's to sa; "a hair-raising new CD release" on Tuesday January 4th, 2005, 7:00 pm, at the Majestic Theatre. She was a gust on The Songwriters, and featured songs from her CD "Premonition".

Kathy's song "Guilty" was runner-up in the Quebec region of the 2004 National Songwriting Competition, and semi-finalist in the 2003 International Songwriting Contest in Nashville! For more information you can check out her website, at - www.kathyphippard.com

Many of the above mentioned artists have CD's available. If you would like to pick up a copy of any of these CD's, (In person or online), just visit Fred's Records. They have the best selection of local music you're likely to find, along with all your favorites. And Local Music makes Great Christmas Gifts!

In On Air news;

"A Downhomer Christmas" will broadcast as part of out seasonal rotation, beginning at 6:00 pm Christmas Eve, and continueing until 6:00 pm Boxing day. There will be other shows as part of that rotation, including Nancy Earle's "Xmas Blues", Dr. Cosmic's Crazy Christmas Special", a "Christmas Hangover Cure", and "The Blind Lemon Christmas"

This Christmas, CHMR will have lots of unique, and interesting programming!

I guess there's nothing left for me but to say Merry Christmas one and all, and I'll see you in the new year.
