Released April 20th., 2004.

We are starting this months update with Big News!

I have always been a big fan of the Moody Blues! In fact, in 1977, the first song I ever played on air as a CHMR DJ was "Lovely To See You" from the album On The Threshold of a Dream. I have every album and video they ever released, but have never had the opportunity to see them perform live!

That is... Up until Now!

This summer, the Moody Blues are doing a North American Tour that will see them performing at the Melody Tent, in Hyannis, MA, in June. It is a four day drve to get there, but Kathy and I have our tickets, and can't Wait!

I am also working on getting an interview for an upcoming episode of "The Songwriters", as well as a New Series I have in the works for the Fall season... Watch for more details on "The Classic Full Album Special" coming in September!

This a shaping up to be a pretty good summer concert wise here in Newfoundland. The Line up for the Klondyke Concert (Saturday, July 31st., 2004) in Bay Roberts has been announced. Its a great Classic Rock lineup including;

Prism
Treble Charger
Air Supply
Kim Mitchell
Blue Rodeo

And last but not least;
BTO

Not to be outdone, The Grand Falls Salmon Festival Concert has announced that this years show will feature Canadian Rock Icon, Bryan Adams as the headline act of what promises to be a great lineup of tallent. The Concert is set for July 17, 2004, and it will be Bryan Adams first concert in Newfoundland since 1991.

Lots of Local acts are hitting the Road this summer as well. David William, who'se latest CD "RadioOctave" is on sale now, was a guest on the songwriters recently, and tells me that he hopes to do alot of playing this coming summer.

I also had Patrick Lawton in as a guest on the Songwriters last week. He joined myself and Al Drysdale for an our of open discussion on music and songwriting. He is a young man with alot of tallent, working towards his first CD, who plans to be playing gigs this summer. Be watching out for him, coming soon to a venue near you!

The next show for Cutting Edge Wrestling is a MayDay Special! It's being promoted as a Lethal Lottery, so your guess is as good as mine, but it should be very interesting finding out what that is!

The review for Rayna Kay 'Moondust In My Hand', has been posted and arrangements are being made to feature her on an episode of the Songwriters in late May, or early June. In the meantime, she has an impressive looking website... Check It Out!

Many of the above mentioned artists have CD's available. If you would like to pick up a copy of any of these CD's, (In person or online), just visit Fred's Records. They have the best selection of local music you're likely to find, along with all your favorites!

In on Air News;

There are now 5 Filler Shows of Epic Proportions! I finished the latest one last week. For those who don't know what that is, read on :)

As all CHMR DJ's are students and/or volunteers, every now and then a show host might miss their show due to outside commitments. To help cover those who cannot make their shows, and for use on our overnight programming, I have loaded several special shows into the CHMR computer to use as filler shows. One of these is called "A Filler Show of Epic Proportons", featuring classic rock songs that challenged the boundries of accepted music practise, and the onstage endurance of the artists on stage.

You never know when these shows will play... so keep it tuned to CHMR-FM.

Cosmic Debris is getting ready for its Summer Tradition! Starting in late may, or early June... The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy will be broadcast as part of Cosmic Debris, replacing The Monday Night Epic for the summer season.

The Monday Night Epic will return in September, with a proposed change. I am thinking of doing the Epic as a Monthly Special.... each Month, I would feature a different Artist. We would kick off the idea with a Month of RUSH! Each Monday Night Epic in September would be a RUSH epic. The idea would then continue in these lines;
September 2004; RUSH Epics
October 2004 Pink Floyd Epics
November 2004 Uriah Heep Epics
December 2004 Arlo Guthrie Epics
January 2005 Yes Epics
February 2005 Led Zepplin Epics
March 2005 King Crimson Epics
April 2005 Jethro Tull Epics
May 2005 Rick Wakeman Epics

Kind of a "Who'se Who" of Rock... isn't it? Of coarse, this is all still just an Idea, so... Wadda ya think? E-mail me and let me know!

Well... Thats it for now! Next week is the First of May... so let me be the first to wish you a Happy May Day!!! :)
