| It all began when Phoebe Halliwell returned home. She and her sisters, Prue and Piper had inherited the Victorian Manor after the death of their grandmother so she had left New York, penniless to live with them once more. It was the usual warm reception with Piper's happy smiles and Prue's evil glares but Phoebe was happy just to be with them again - even if Prue wasn't. One night Phoebe and Piper were playing with the Spirit Board that they had played with long ago as children. The pointer moved, spelling the word 'ATTIC'. In the attic, Phoebe found the mystical Book of Shadows and read aloud a spell: "Hear now the words of the Witches, The secrets we hid in the night, The oldest of Gods are invoked here, The great work of Magic is sought, In this night and in this hour, I can upon the ancient Power. Bring your Powers to we sisters, three. We want the Power. Give us the Power." They became the Charmed Ones. |

| Hope seemed lost. Without Prue, Piper and Phoebe had neither the strength nor the will to continue. Enter: Paige. The young woman was found by Phoebe and Cole after a Premonition of Shax killing her. |
| The event was prevented by Paige Orbing from the attack, a Power that only Whitelighters possess. It was discovered that this woman was not a Whitelighter, but a Charmed One, born to their mother and her Whitelighter. The Powers That Be do not allow Witch/Whitelighter relationships (Piper and Leo being the only exception) so they gave Paige to a nun to be adopted. Paige became Charmed and inhertited Prue's Power of Telekinesis. This, combined with her Whitelighter half created a new Power: Telekinetic Orbing. |

| Piper, Phoebe and Paige grew closer, forging tight bonds as both sisters and Witches. Cole was forced to take in the mystical "Hollow" to save Phoebe, but the Power corrupted him, returning him to his former glory. He took over the Underworld as the Source, with Phoebe as his queen. The sisers pulled together and vanquished Cole. The Angel of Destiny paid a visit. The Charmed Ones had vanquished two Sources and were given the option to either emain as Witches, or relinquish their Powers, their lives. They chose to reject the offer and the Angel informed them that Piper was pregnant with Leo's child. |
| The Charmed Ones were met by Leo, a handyman, whom they hired to fix up their inherited home. Leo's actual profession was that of a Whitelighter, a guardian Angel, sent by the Powers That Be to protect Good Witches. Leo fell in love with Piper, breaking all the rules between Witches and Whitelighters. Leo was taken away from them, but their love could not be defeated and he was soon returned to the sisters. After a long time of proving themselves to the Elders, Leo and Piper were allowed to be wed. |

| Cole Turner was the Demon who came in from the cold. He was sent by the Triad to get close to the Charmed Ones, to discover their weaknesses and then, to destroy them. Cole had a dark side. He was half Demon, a particularly nasty Upper Level Demon named Belthezor. What he didn't count on was his feelings for Phoebe. His love drove him to kill the Triad and he joined the Charmed Ones. |
| Prue's ex, Andy, a police detective and his partner, Darryl Morris were with the Charmed Ones all the way when they were adjusting to their new destiny. Though, they didn't actually know their secret. Andy was killed by a Demon, while trying to help them but before he did, he told Darryl to help the sisters however he could. They soon filled him in on their secret and he continues to help out when he is needed. He has kept their secret safe, but told his wife, who vows to keep it, too. |

| Cole's human half kept him alive in the Demonic Wastlands, where he collected Powers of fallen Demons and Warlocks. He returned to win Phoebe back, but she rejected him. Paige quit her social worker duties to devote her life to the Craft as Piper's growing pregnancy began to worry her and Leo. They were informed by an Elder that their child would be more Powerful than either of them could ever imagine, and its Powers were able to protect its mother from the womb, Healing her if she was hurt and then, making her invincible, which compensated for Cole's own invincibility. The baby also had fun playing with its mother's Powers. When Cole became mentally unstable and the Charmed Ones were forced to vanquish him for good, not long before young Wyatt Matthew Halliwell was born, a shock from the daughter Piper had seen in the future. |
