[ STOPPER KNOTS ]

FIGURE-OF-EIGHT KNOT

a stopper knot that, because of its bulk is often preferred to the thumb knot, being easier to undo since it does not bind so tightly.

THUMB/OVERHAND KNOT

the simplest of stopper knots, and not particularly useful on its own except for tying parcels.

DOUBLE THUMB/OVERHAND KNOT

the double overhand knot is thicker than the common overhand knot, but not any stronger. the double overhand knot is also called the bloodknot when it is used at the end of a whip.
