I have been sailing since I was about 6 months old and have always had a passion (obsession some might say) for the sea. This has given me to all sorts of interesting memorys. Going to sea on container ships when I was 17, spending two years working as First mate on a 100 foot brigantine and sailing single handed across the Tasman sea in a 26 foot boat are a few of my favorites. I was born in NZ but now live in Tasmania and teach, some of my subjects include traditional navigation, stability, survival and electronic navigation. I have always also enjoyed adventure stuff like Cross country Skiing and Rock climbing, and I'm learning to weld so as to be able to one day build a yacht. At the moment I am living aboard my steel Roberts 34 and I am getting lots of metal work practice as I slowly fix her up.

My Parents Built their 45 foot mobjack called "New Zealand Maid" when I was A kid, although in many ways like any boat she is never totally finished. They have been living aboard for the last 12 years. The 'Maid' has sailed to tahiti, to protest against the bomb and To Australia and the Islands a few times. I have 4 younger brothers, All of them good sailers. Both My grandparents had yachts. I guess there was no hope for me really!
