There is no set amount for childminders to charge, but different areas and childminders vary in their charges and the additional things they provide most childminders charge a small fee for meals and snacks. |

I tend to keep my charges lower than other childminders |
|
in the Hyde/Gee Cross area. |
|
I charge �1 per meal but breakfast and all snacks and drinks are still free of charge. |
|
|
|
As from April 2003 charges are the following amounts: |
|
|
|
1. �3.50p before and after school. |
|
2. �3.00p per hour normal hours 8 am to 5 pm or �3.50 if less than 20 hours per week. |
|
3. After 6pm �4.00p per hour. |
|
4. Saturday between 10 am and 4 pm, �5.00p per hour. |
|
5. A small fee of �5.00p per day is charged for sickness, days off or parents holidays, many childminders will charge the full fee for absences. |
|
There are various forms you will need to fill out and sign before minding can start. I have listed the forms that I have. |
|
|
|
1. Firstly you will have to provide me with the child's details, contact numbers, mother and father's place of work, date of birth, special arrangements, diets, allergies etc. This form is on the back of the contract that will need to be filled out, kept up to date and signed yearly by childminder and parents. |
|
2. I also keep an report for when the child has an accident which will need to be signed by the parent and childminder in two separate books, a copy to be kept by childminder and a copy for the parents to keep. |
|
3. Next I need to have written consent (in the form of a letter) in order for me to administer any medication the child may need. This also needs a signature in my record book. |
|
4. Finally I keep a register, not only to ensure that all children are accounted for in an emergency, but also to keep a record of who has paid their fees and who still has to pay. |
