ALL ABOUT ME

MY SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES:

As my father is a bank employee, he has served at many places of Asom. So we had to move to different places along with him. I started my school education at St. Mary's School in Dibrugarh, then we moved to Barpeta Road, where I studied at St. Mary's School during our three years of stay there. After Barpeta Road we changed our base to Tezpur. Tezpur is beautiful town, situated some 180 kms away from Guwahati. This is the place where I spent more than half of my lifetime. We stayed there for 12 years. I got admitted into Carmel Residential School in the 3rd standard. I completed my schooling from this school. In between I had studied in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya for one and half years. Later I did my higher secondary education from Darrang College of Tezpur in 2002. Finally, I landed up in MNIT in the year 2003 for my graduation. I completed my B.Tech degree in Computer Engineeringin the year 2007.

THE MOST MEMORABLE  DAY IN MNIT:

25th July 2006, yes the day on which I got placed. We waited the whole day and cursing the company which was supposed to arrive at 9 in the morning. The company atlast turned up at 3 pm in the afternoon. I did well in the written test and got a call for the interviews as expected. The interview session started at 5 pm. Each student was interviewed for around 30 mins as both the Technical and HR interviews were combined. I had to wait for my turn till 10 pm. The results were out at around 11pm. I was overwhelmed when I was handed over the appointment letter. 5 out of 13 students (13 were selected for the interviews) made into the company. Our friends started to shout and sing. Got the GPLs as a part of the rituals. Then I called up my parents and conveyed the good news. My parents were equally haapy and they so felt proud. That was the day in MNIT, which I will never forget. The happiest day of my life.

THE MOST ADVENTUROUS DAY IN MNIT:

The most adventurous day of my life in MNIT was when I entered a bar for the first time. We were new in Jaipur and didnot know the place properly.I went to the bar with Rupam, Bishwajeet and Devashish (names changed ).Bishwajeet and I did not drink, but we had soft drink and nonveg food. But the other two were totally knocked. They even vomitted on there and filled their clothes with filth. So while retunring the auto-rickshaws refused to take us looking at our condition. At last we got one. On the way Devashish, who was drunk and out of control, fell out with the driver ,grabbed hold of his neck and threatened to kill him.But somehow we managed to control him. The autowala then resumed driving and stopped at place and told us that he'd coming in two minutes. I got down from the auto only to know that he had stopped at a police station.I told the others to get down from the auto and run for life. I will never forget the way we ran on the streets that day. Devashish was still knocked, so we had to take care of him so that he doesn't come infront of speeding vehicles .We ran through a narrow road and reached a mosque at the end of it. Devashish with all kinds of filth on his body and with shoes tried to enter the mosque. I caught hold of his shirt and pulled him out . He would have probably beaten up if he had gone inside. Then after running for some more time we managed to reach the main road and got an auto rickshaw who brought us to our hostel. After reaching hostel, Devashish this time fell out with this autowala and sent him away while we were in our room to bring change as for the fare. The auto wala had gone, so we ran again after the auto and atlast paid the fare and thanked him for bringing us back to hostel.

We still imagine today what would have happened if we had to spend a night in the lockup. Flogging by the police ,reprimands from our parents, defamation and a big black dot in our report cards.
