John Jay Doggett joined the FBI from the New York City Police Department, where he was Detective in the Fugitive Division's Warrant section. Before that Doggett was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps' Amphibious Unit and played a role in the Multinational Peacekeeping Force for Lebanon Development. Doggett had a son named Luke, but he was kidnapped and murdered when he was only 8. Doggett was assigned to lead a task force for deputy director Kersh to find Mulder. Kersh's objective was to have Doggett fail so he wouldn't be next in line for the director's chair. Doggett was then assigned to work on The X-Files with Scully. He promised her that he would find Mulder, and he did, but unfortunately, he was too late. He was there for her during her pregnancy, and is still right by her side, helping her through Mulder's second disappearance. He is now paired with Monica Reyes since Scully left The X-Files. Doggett also helped Mulder escape from prison when he was tried for murder.
