In the process, he manages to mess up a "sweetheart" deal merger. ["Causality"]. After a drunken bar fight, Nick and Burton agree that it is Nick's best interest for him to come back and work at F & A. According to Burton, Nick needs "structure" in his life ["Privilege"]
  • During Burton's quest for a judicial position on the Federal bench, Burton promises to give the firm to Nick. Burton begins shifting his clients to Nick. Alvin, an acquaintance of Phil's, coincidentally attends this meeting and hears this confession. Nick did not know Alvin was at the meeting. Alvin offers to be Nick's new sponsor. Nick accepts. ["The Divide"]

Assault and Drug Possession Charge (Season 1-Season 2 story arc)
  • After Nick and Mandy Gresslers fight in his home [The Beginning], Nick is charged with assault and possession of cocaine. The charges could revoke his prior probation and he would have to serve time in jail. Fortunately, Nick is cleared of any parole violations and the felony charges are dropped. [Testimony]

    Drug History
  • It had been alluded to in Paternity that Nicks drug problem has been with him since college.
  • Robs call: In 1996, while both were in New York City, Nick and Rob were using cocaine at a party. Nick passes out on the sidewalk and is brought to a nearby Emergency Room, where he is combative. Nick leaves the emergency room and is found lying in the snowy sidewalk half-nude. Rob brings him back to his place and stays up with Nick the rest of the night. Rob calls Burton. According to Rob, Nick kept repeating Call my dad. According to Nick, there was some kind of event. Nick disputes the passing out and leaving the emergency room shirtless part. He also disputes that he told Rob to call Burton. Rob, we learn, is still using cocaine. So ambiguity over who was telling the truth [Where you are]

Misc.:
  • Anonymously gave Lawrence Neal a Playstation2 ["Paternity"]
  • Knows CPR [*"Heart", "The Funnies"]
  • Doesn't own a pet [*"Heart"] Revised: see Bart Stanton

  • Cellphone: Motorola Talk About [various episodes], cellphone is provided by F & A ["Causalities"]
  • Legal Services office was the broom closet, until Lulu Archer took it over ["Loyalities"]
  • Broke off affair with Meghan Barstow ["Home"]
  • Alcoholic beverage of choice: tequila ["Causality"]
  • Owns a Palm Pilot["Family" "MOD"]
  • Mother never let him watch TV when he was a child, but he used to watch TV whenever he stayed with Burton[Monster]
  • Nick's first job as managing partner of Fallin & Fallin is to sack an associate. ["The Next Life"]
  • Burtons traditional birthday gift to Nick is a check in the amount of his (Nicks) age. For example on Nicks 33rd birthday, Burton gave him a check for $33. [The Neighborhood]
  • On Nicks 33rd birthday, Burton gives him a watch. The watch was given to Burton by Anne when he started Fallin & Associates. It is inscribed Burton with love Anne[The Neighborhood]
* Both are implied in "Heart" because no pets and knowing CPR were part of the conditions to adopt Leslie
** There is a very vague hint that this "house" maybe provided by F & A/Burton. In "Men From the Boys", Burton has a conversation with Nick asking him about how he (Nick) likes his car and if he likes the "place"(the residence). Nick replies that the residence is fine. (I admit this is really stretching it. However, considering the situation with the car, I'm suspicious enough to believe that mention of the "place" in "Men from the Boys" was some kind of clue.--Milz)
