Had congential heart disease requiring several heart surgeries
and eventually requiring a heart transplant. This is complicated because the law requires children like Lesley to be adopted before receiving organ transplants. Her current foster parents cannot adopt her for some reasons. Laurie Solt and Nick begin to search for adoptive parents for Lesley. A couple is found, however, they are unwilling to give up their pets and are deemed unsuitable for an organ transplant patient. In the end, Lesley is the adopted by Nick, who becomes her legal and medical guardian. (Judge Danzen was impressed by Nick's testimony on the stand during the hearing) A heart is found for Lesley and she goes for the transplant. However, the heart arrives too late at the hospital. Lesley dies. Her story is told in the episode "Heart". |
