All About Toltoys

Janus James Fawke who worked for "Flack and Flack", a company of chartered
accountants one day met a client, Alex Tolman, who owned a toy company called
"BRENTOYS". With royalty agreements with some of the major toy manufacturers
such as Louis Marx Inc, Walt Disney and Hopalong Cassidy, Alex Tolman decided
to start a new company called "TOLTOYS" and gave Janus a five year contract
to be Company Secretary, Finance Director and a position on the Board. During
this tenure, he established Toltoys in New Zealand and also became Treasurer
of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Toltoys was Australia's premiere toy distributor in the 1970's, based in Melbourne
and founded by Alex Tolmer the Toltoys brand of Star Wars items were released in
Australia and New Zealand after the production of episode four in 1977. They have
become exceedingly rare pieces to find today, this is because they were produced
for a smaller population base as compared with the United States..

David Tolmer son of Alex Tolmer was in charge of Toltoys back in 1976 when
Frisbee's were first launched in Australia,Toltoys had exclusive rights to the
Frisbee name as Alex Tolmer had introduced Frisbee's and Hula hoops to
Australia way back in the sixties. In 1975 Toltoys was acquired by "General Mills',
then owners of Kenner and Parker Bros, this is why you will find printed on the
packaging, "Toltoys for General Mills Fun Group Inc". The packaging of the
Toltoys Star Wars items were very much the same in appearance to the kenner
style packaging except the printed logo was "Toltoys", as in the designs below..

The Toltoys 12 backs have numerous differences, the stock number is missing
above the white price box and the Toltoys logo replaces the area in which the
Kenner logo and safety statement have would appeared. The first twelve characters
were re-released by Toltoys on 20 back cards. They are virtually identical to the
12-backs, but this time the logo and copyright information was centered.
