Hello everyone!!
In today's fast growing world, nobody has even a minute to spare and look at themselves in the mirror; then how can we expect someone to find out time to contact their friends and family at any decent hour. So, in such cases, people have found out a very simple solution to the problem - "Social Networking Sites"!!
There may be only a few people out there who do not use these sites. As a matter of fact, these sites have possibly provided the easiest and cheapest way to communicate. Ever since the introduction of social network sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Cyworld, and Bebo these sites have attracted millions of users, many of whom have integrated these sites into their daily practices. A social networking service is an online service, platform, or site that focuses on building and reflecting of social networks or social relations among people, who, for example, share interests and/or activities. A social network service consists of a representation of each user (often a profile), his/her social links, and a variety of additional services. Most social network services are web-based and provide means for users to interact over the Internet, such as e-mail online chatting and messaging. Online services are sometimes considered as a social network service, though in a broader sense, social network service usually means an individual-centered service whereas online community services are group-centered. Social networking sites allow users to share ideas, activities, events, and interests within their individual networks.
This website made by our group is a combined effort of our teachers and ours to find simple and accurate answers to the million questions which arise everyday in people's mind.
The purpose of this introduction is to provide a conceptual, historical, and scholarly context for the articles in this collection. We have begun by defining what constitutes a social network site and then presented a perspective on the historical development of Social Networking Sites. Following this we have taken personal interviews and public accounts of sites and their changes over time. Also, we have made an effort to collect information about the number of incidents which have taken place due to SNSs. We have also tried to list out the harms & benefits of SNSs. We have concluded suggestions for future research and the improvements that can be made. Also, we would be delighted to have your suggestions and opinions on this particular issue and about our website.
