I remembered they had a stall selling fish ball noodles. My childhood friend and I would be helping out diligently for one or 2 hours before sneaking off to our favourite hideout, the playground. The notti me would always try to "bump" her heavily onto the ground with each "ups" and "downs" on the see-saw. Next there was the slide whereby we would challenge each other to see whether we could climb up the slide in a single go instead of losing our balances on the slippery slide. Underneath the slide, there was this big "D" shape whereby 2 notti, young, playful girls would just lie down to share our secrets and dreams. And yes, there were 2 smaller slides connected to the big one and we would sit at one of them and giggled at the people walking to and fro from the market. Not to forget the merry-go-round where we would turn it at maximum speed before jumping back onto it and enjoyed the cool breeze that passed through us.
I recalled we would rush back to my grandparents' house instead of helping out at the noodles stalls on Sundays to catch the espoides of "The Smurfs". It was something that both of us loved and we managed to complete our whole sticker book of Smurfs. Perhaps that was when my love for smurfs started and something for me to rekindle my childhood memories.
We played simple games like "pick-up-sticks", "five/four stones" to pass the days. And we had our own little imaginary games. We looked forward everyday of being together and having more funs. At times she would sleep over at my place and we would talk until tiredness consumed us.
Oh well, those were the cherished childhood memories. And here I have some photos of the yester-years to share with you all. Hope that it brings back some of your childhood memories also.
