September 2007 Newsletter

WOW! Fairs over and schools started. This year has flown by. I was so proud of all the club members during the fair. They had great project displays and everyone received blues on their record books. Gabbie, Lexie and Kellsie participated in the Speech and Demonstration contest and some of the members were in the horse and dog shows. We received numerous compliments on the project displays and the club display overall. Thanks to all for a job well done, including the parents that helped with the decorating. For those that didnt pick up their model club stuff, I have the project displays and record books and will bring them to the next meeting.

Family Night At the Lemhi County Fair:
A big thanks goes to Sierra and Lexie who manned our "Frog pond - Turtle toss" booth for about 3 hours. It was a big success and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun. There was a fantastic turn-out for the event and hopefully they will do it again next year.

NEXT MEETING:
Our next meeting will be on Friday, September 14th from 1 to 4 p.m. at the library. Below is a tentative schedule, as I needed to reserve the meeting room. Please let me know if theres a major problem with these dates or the time. We will be planning our Breyer Day event at the meeting. We need some members to help set up the night before for about an hour and on Friday, Sept 28th some of them need to help do the window display. Not everyone needs to be at both events so they can choose. If they cant help at either of those times, they will need to be there to help at Breyer Day. Members must help during at least one of these dates to receive a Breyer Fun Day model.

OTHER TOPICS:

New Club Year: Our club year officially runs from October 1 to Sept. 30th. We are headed into a new year and have a lot of great ideas in the works so its important that everyone attend the next meeting so we can brainstorm what we want to accomplish. We had a great display at the fair and it generated a lot of interest from adults and youth alike so we may be having some new members starting in October. Id like to do some brainstorming on the clubs direction before taking on more members. At the November meeting we will be electing new officers.

ACHIEVEMENT NIGHT: This years Achievement Night is scheduled for Friday, September 28th. Thats all the details I have right now but it will be a RSVP affair. You should be receiving information from the 4-H Office with complete details. This is a great time to bring the family and celebrate all the years accomplishments.

CANDY BARS: We still need to sell candy bars. If your daughter has any candy money still out, she needs to bring it to the next meeting since our accounting year ends September 30th and all monies collected this year need to be in before then so we can turn in our financial report before October 1st.

RECYCLING PROJECTS: We will have collection bins for ink cartridges at several places and we are still collecting pop-tops.

LEMHI COUNTY EXTENSION OFFICE WEBSITE: http://extension.ag.uidaho.edu/lemhi/ or Phone: 756-2824.

REFRESHMENTS: Friendly reminder We need members to sign up to bring drinks and snacks to the meetings. We would need enough for at least 12 people. Please let me know before the meeting if you can do this so we can start making a schedule. If each member brought either a snack or drinks to one meeting, it would be very helpful, otherwise we will probably no longer have refreshments.

Thats all I can think of for now. If you have any questions, please call me. 756-3182
