October 2007 Newsletter

Welcome greetings to our new members: Destini T, Jakobi H, and Sarah H!

The Breyer Fun Day was a big success. Everyone did a great job helping to organize, set up and work during the event. Next years event will be October 4th.

NEXT MEETING: Our next meeting will be on Friday, November 9th from 1 to 4 p.m. at the library. We will be electing officers at this meeting so everyone needs to be there. We will also be handing out record books. Everyone needs to bring their models so we can make horse blankets. Please bring felt, trim, Velcro, scissors or glue if you have any. We will also be discussing the bake sale in December and what we will be doing for the Afterschool program. Members need to be thinking of their goals for this year, read a book magazine article or watch a movie for their check-off list and we need to get started on demonstrations. They will be due by the May meeting.

Enclosed are new sign-up sheets. Please return them at the next meeting if possible. Checks should be made out to 4-H Leaders Council All members must be signed up by December 1st. The fee is $5 for the year. If your daughter is doing other projects, you will need to pay for them at the March sign-up.

HORSELESS TRAIL CLINIC: We will be hosting a Horseless Trail Clinic on Thursday, January 24th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the library. I will be giving the class I do at the Leaders Forums and it will be open to the public with a $5 per person fee. The members will use their models and make different trail type obstacles. Hopefully this will be a good fundraiser. ONLY CLUB MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILY WILL BE NO CHARGE. A Thursday was selected since it will be an evening event and theres no school the next day.

OTHER EVENTS:

Congratulations to Kellsie H for doing such a great job at her first AKC dog show in Boise. She competed in the junior showmanship classes and earned a fifth place the first day and won her class the second. Great job!!!!!!

RECYCLING PROJECTS: We will have collection bins for ink cartridges at several places and we are still collecting pop-tops. Please bring anything you have to the next meeting.

Harvest Festival: The Salmon Valley Baptist Church will be hosting a Harvest Festival on October 31st from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church on Cemetery lane. There will be a hayride and hopefully it will be with a horse-drawn wagon. There will also be games and goodies.

SNACKS: We need members to sign up to bring drinks and snacks to the meetings. We would need enough for at least 12 people. Please let me know before the meeting if you can do this so we can start making a schedule. If each member brought either a snack or drinks to one meeting, it would be very helpful, otherwise we will probably no longer have refreshments.

That's all I can think of for now. If you have any questions, please call me. 756-3182
