NEXT MEETING: Our next meeting will be on Friday, November 17th from 1 to 3p.m. in the Library basement. We have some things that need to be done, planned and decided on at this meeting. First, the girls have to select three Abaco Barb Youth Project participants that they feel have done an outstanding project to either raise funds or promote the horses. From there, Mimi, who cares for the horses, will select the top project and that person will receive an Abaco Barb model donated by Breyer. We need to get this done. Also we need to get the photos labeled for the photo show. I have the photos but members need to bring the following information so we can do the labels: name of horse, age, sex, finish, and breed. Some members will have several horses so they need to bring the information on all of them. Their horses registration papers should be in last years record books. We are doing a photo show with the club in Canada and need to get the photos out ASAP. And, we need to come up with ideas for the Parade of Lights float. I think my neighbor can help us with the lighting. I have a Christmas tree, various lengths and colors of garland, a light-up holiday horse and the big club signs. If anyone else has stuff we can use, that would be great. PLEASE have your daughters start thinking about what they would like to do for the float. We need ideas.

The parade starts at dusk the Friday after Thanksgiving. Ill let everyone know what time we are going to meet and where. Would morning or afternoon be better? Please let me know.

At our October meeting, the girls decided to have officers and the results are as follows:

Kellsie H.-President, Jamie-Vice President, Photographer-Gabrielle, Artist-Aspen R., Reporter-Kelsey A., and Sunshine committee: Katy H., and Nicole.

Our next meeting will be on December 8th and we usually make holiday baskets for the Discovery Care Center as a community service project. If you have any small holiday decorations, knickknacks or ornaments that you would be willing donate for the baskets, it would be appreciated. I will have the baskets. We will deliver the baskets right after the meeting so if everyone can plan to stop at the Center on the way home for about ten minutes. It would be helpful.

OTHER TOPICS: Abaco Barb Youth Project Recipients: This is the list of recipients the girls will be selecting from. Ill have complete details at the meeting but members should at least look it over and think about which three are their top choices.

Danielle K., age 15, from Lebanon PA - Hosted model horse photo show raised $155.

Rebecca (?)., from Wyoming DE - friend of Amanda B. who helped with Peach Festival fundraiser.
Amanda G., age 14, from Calgary Alberta, Canada - Won 4-H club speech contest title with speech about the horses.

STATE LEADERS FORUM: Diane and I are headed to the state forum Nov 10-12. We will have a model horse display and will be announcing the Idaho Stone Horse of the Year program. This is the project we have been working on with Peter Stone who has the Stone Model Horse Company. Basically the program is: youth write an essay stating how their horse has made their life and the life of others better because. This is for live horses and will be a statewide program. Peter Stone will make a single model of the horse in the winning essay. We plan to announce this at the forum but still need to hash out the details. Stone is a big supporter of 4-H and this way it will help promote the model horse project while honoring a real horse. This program is also ongoing in Illinois and Massachusetts.

BAKE SALE: Everyone was excited about doing the bake sale again. Its tentatively set for December 16th at Kings. I need to reconfirm this date. This is our biggest fundraiser and we have such great bakers in our group its interesting to see what they make.

DEMONSTRATIONS: Please encourage your daughter to get her demonstration done early this year. They need to be done before the model horse show that will be in late April or early May. They also need to do a book or magazine article report.

FLICKA MOVIE: The new Flicka movie will be out in October and we were discussing going as a group but with each member paying their own way.

INK CARTRIDGES & POP TOPS: If you know anyone who might let us put out a bin, please let me know. I will be dropping off the pop-tops in the near future so they can go to the Boise Ronald McDonald House.

If anyone can bring refreshments to the meetings, it would be appreciated. We would need enough for at least 12 people.

Thats all I can think of for now. If you have any questions, please call me.
