NEXT MEETING:
NOTE DAY AND TIME CHANGE!!! Our next meeting will be on Monday, June 18th from 10 to noon at the library. ALL DEMONSTRATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED AT THIS MEETING. For those that dont have their demonstrations ready, they will be assigned an impromptu topic at the that day.

MODEL SHOW:
The club model show went well. Everyone did a good job and our judge, Kathy Gatens was really impressed by how well everyone turned out their models and listened to her suggestions, especially about the importance of the description cards. It was really nice to see all the parents and guests there.

RECORD BOOKS: The record books will be due at the end of the August 10th meeting. I will hand out fresh books at the July meeting so members can get a start on them at home. We are trying to keep a running account of what we are doing but members need to work on the fresh books and do their story beforehand. I will have photos and other things at the August meeting that can be added to the books. PARENTS MUST ALSO SIGN THE BOOK.

If your daughter wants to do the record book on the computer, this will give her time to do it. Some members like the computer, others dont. Its your choice but remember, there is NO SPELL CHECK in the record book program so please have your daughter double check all spelling as this is an important part of the book. Judges are more critical of this when the computer is used instead of being handwritten.

I hope to have an up-dated list for each member of what we did and what they need to still do for their check-off list. Almost everyone needs to tell someone about the Abaco Barbs. Please encourage your daughter to tell a friend, relative, teacher, scout troop or someone else about the horses.

Also, each member needs to select one model for her project model. There is a separate page for information and a photo of that model. Please have your daughter bring that model to the next meeting so I can take a photo of it.

CANDY BARS:
The girls decided to order more candy. Its here now we need to sell it. Im willing to do a walk through town sale day so we can hit the local businesses. The candy sales are important because during the Breyer Fun Day, each member helping with the event receives a special Breyer Day model. The fee for the models comes from the club funds. Funds also cover pizzas and lunches at the all day events. Currently no club funds are used for project supplies, film or film developing, postage for newsletters, snacks, drinks or other supplies.

RECYCLING PROJECTS:
We will no longer be accepting cell phones. To date we have raised $218.25 for the horses through this program. We now have collection bins at KSRA, Salmon Internet, the Salmon and Custer 4-H Offices, and the Salmon Library. Dont forget to bring in your pop-tops, also. We will have collection bins at the fair and Ill have one at the Custer County Fair, too.

OTHER TOPICS:
Salmon River Days Parade: Do we want to have a float in the parade? Please let your daughter know if you will be in town that weekend so we can make a decision. We can also sell candy bars that weekend or do some other type of fund-raiser.

Model show certificates: Juanita has created a really neat certificate for our High-Point (Scoring) 4-H Exhibitor program. These certificates, sponsored by the club, will be awarded to the high scoring 4-H er at various open live model shows throughout the country. The goal is to encourage and recognize 4-H youth to participate in the open live shows and promote the 4-H model horse program at the same time. This is a new project and it will soon be announced on the various model horse internet lists. We are already offering the certificates at the Missoula 5 Valley show and the NW Expo in Corvallis, Oregon. Diane and I are planning to show at the Missoula show and do 4-H model club promotions. They have a novice youth division and, after seeing what a great job everyone did at our show, I would encourage everyone to go if they can. This is a new show in our area and it would be great to see it become an annual event.

Heres the information:

Missoula 5 Valley Model Horse Show, June 2nd 2007, Missoula, MT

Juanita will be at the NW Expo and along with the certificate, she is donating, in the clubs name, a Flicka gift set for the youngest exhibitor. Thanks Juanita for all you do for the club!!

Lemhi County Fair: The fair will be here before you know it, fair week is August 18th 26th.
For more info, contact: LEMHI COUNTY EXTENSION OFFICE WEBSITE: http://extension.ag.uidaho.edu/lemhi/ or Phone: 756-2824.

Thats all I can think of for now. If you have any questions, please call me.

If anyone can bring refreshments to the meetings, it would be appreciated. We would need enough for at least 12 people. Please let me know before the meeting if you can do this.
