March 2005 Newsletter

 Hi Everyone,

Sorry about this, but things have happened and our whole schedule for March and April has changed. First, the 4-H Expo Night has been changed from March 16th to March 9th at 6:00 p.m. at the High School. Unfortunately I have a class that night so I wouldnt be able to attend so we wouldnt have a club display. But, if your daughter plans on being in any other 4-H project, she must sign-up that night. So, we wouldnt be attending as a club but your daughters need to attend.

Next, the Leaders Training set for March 12th has been canceled so we wouldnt be helping with that, but since weve been planning an activity for that date we will be having a meeting at the Commissioners Office from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. During this time, we will finish the English bridles, make plans for our show and take scene photos for our photo show. So, the girls need to bring their models and any tack they may have. Well also have a snack of some kind. This will take the place of the March 28th meeting.

Since some of our members will be gone for Spring break, weve decided to move the model show to Saturday, April 30th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the library. This is an important part of the project as it is basically our Fair Horse Show and the highlight of the project.

On April 16th, well have a booth to sell candy and promote the club at the horse sale. This will just be for a few hours in the morning. Ill also have a scavenger hunt list for the girls to work on. Ill be taking photos of the sale so I need to be done by noon. Ill have more details on this as the time gets near. For this event, I need to go to work right away so as soon as we dismiss at noon, I will not be able to watch after your daughter. Im just letting you know that after noon, I cant be responsible for your daughter as the official part of the 4-H meeting will be over.

At the April meeting on the 20th, Id like to work on record books and hopefully have the demonstrations done. Id like to get the Model Horse stuff pretty much finished before the other clubs get busy. Please encourage your daughter to do her demonstration and book and video reports. When I send out the April newsletter, Ill also include a list of everything your daughter has done and what we did as a club.

If any of our excellent bakers would like to do an extra community service project, the new board of directors at White Water are going to host a bake sale just before Easter  on March 25th & 26th and are in need of expert bakers to make and donate cookies and other goodies. If youre interested, please let me know or call Kim at 756-8568.

The WRLF in California was awesome and we had a lot of positive comments about the project. The stablemate model with the blanket sold for $12 as part of the WRLF silent auction. It was purchased by Cindy Sperry of the California 4-H Computer Corps. She wants to let you know that he went to a Breyer Horse collector and will be well taken care of. She has been collecting Breyers for years and really liked the blanket.

I think this has things caught up and Im sure Ive missed some things, but I wanted to get it out so youd have time to make the schedule changes. Please call me if you cant attend any of these events and thank you for your understanding.
