March 2008 Newsletter

NEXT MEETING: Our next meeting is Friday, March 14th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the library. This is an important meeting, as we will be discussing the model show, picking classes and going over what to do at the show. As of now the show will be held at the old Brooklyn School. This is so the show can be part of the 4-H Leaders training event. Many leaders are curious about the project and we have been invited to participate in conjunction with the training so they can watch some of the show. The show will start at 10 a.m. so members need to be there by 9:30 to set up. Late arrivals will simply miss their classes. We will set the class list at the next meeting and show entries will be done at the April meeting on April 11th.

CLUB REQUIRED MODEL SHOW: The club show will be on Saturday, April 26th, the weekend after the horse sale. This is an all day event and all members must participate to finish their project. Only members who have paid their membership fee, filled out the registration papers and have attended at least 4 meetings and completed their demonstrations will be eligible for the show. So if your daughter has missed past meetings, they need to be at the next few meeting or call me if they cant come.

DEMONSTRATIONS: Members need to get their demonstrations done. They need to be done before the model show or at the show. The reason we have our demonstrations done before hand is to avoid the summer madhouse with other projects and activities. If demonstrations arent done before the show, members will have to do an impromptu one the morning before the show to compete. As of now, no one has yet done a demonstration.

FUNDRAISERS: Some of the members have not yet participated in a fund raising event. We can do a raffle at the horse sale to cover this.

OTHER EVENTS: Idaho Horse of the Year applications are now available for 2008 and can be found on the club website or the Idaho 4-H website.
