Ginger & Susan competing at Mountain Trail Challenge.

Riding Instructor
Ground Work Training
Trail Clinician

I am available for teaching the fundamentals of Trail classes, as well as basic Ground Work training and/or riding lessons. Choice of private lessons or in group settings, I have years of experience.

I have conducted clinics in California, Florida, and Idaho. I am also heavily involved in 4-H as a Club Leader, often attending the annual Western Regional Leader's Forum in California, and teaching Trail classes at the Idaho State 4-H Camp in Alpine, Wyoming. In 2009, I had the honor of designing and running the Trail Challenge at Horse Affairs.

Additionally, I am also an Idaho representative for the American Trail Horse Association, as well as on the Board of the Whitewater Therapeutic Riding Center.

Aboard my favorite mount Josephine, a Thoroughbred molly mule, I competed successfully on the open show circuit for a number of years in a field dominated by horses. In 1987, I captured the title of World Champion Green Trail Mule at the infamous Bishop Mule Days, which later led to an invitational ride in the prestigous 100th Tournament of Roses Parade.

Aboard my current mount Ginger, another saddle mule mare (pictured left), I won the Senior division of the Tri-States Equine Festival Mountain Trail Challenge, both under saddle and in-hand. Again, this was against a field of horses.

The American Donkey & Mule Association (ADMS) has a saying that explains Equine psychology quite aptly: "You can TELL a horse what to do, but with a mule you must ASK."
