Club Activities for 2005
January 8th - English day Camp, where members learned to make their own English Bridles, Saddles, & Jumps. Members from the Salmon 4H group teamed up with Custer Co. 4H group to make a special promotional video, "How to Start a Model Horse 4-H Club." The video included our club's Abaco Barb project as well as still photos of various activities, and will be used to promote the model horse project throughout Idaho.
February 16th - monthly club meeting, to discuss goals & work on skill-a-thon activities. The Abaco Barb group contacted us about requests from other youth as to how they could help save the horses.
February ???- Western Regional Leader�s Forum in California, where club leader Dudasik put together a club display at the Share Faire, to once again promote her �Horseless Trail Class,� using model horses.
March 7th through 9th, 4-H Promotion Week at schools.
March 9th - 4-H Expo Night.
March 12th - monthly club meeting to work on English tack projects and scenes for future shows.
March 15th - official launching of the Salmon Model Horse 4-H Club website, with links to model horse 4-H clubs in California and New York as well as the Abaco Barb Horse group and a number of general model horse clubs and collectors!
April 16th - Salmon Select Horse Sale, where club did three community service projects at once as well as participated as part of the local National Youth Service Days project. Additionally, the group did a scavenger hunt and had their photo taken with country singer, Johnny U, who helped kick off the club's new �Abaco Barb Youth Project.�
April 20th - monthly club meeting, to finalize plans for upcoming model horse liveshow.
April 30th - Salmon Model Horse 4-H Club Summer Fun LiveShow, where the guest judge Trish Williams was impressed at the creativity & professionalism all entrants exhibited.
May 18th - monthly club meeting & demonstations.
June 1st - official launching of the new Abaco Barb Youth Project.
June 10th - Project Camp at Idaho Falls.
June 14th - monthly club meeting to finish record books & demonstrations.
June 25th - Horse 4-H Hairy Horse Show.
July 12th through 15th - general 4-H camp at Boulder Mountain Youth Camp.
July 13th through 16th - state horse camp in Alpine, WY.
July 24th through 27th - Salmon 4-H Horse Camp at Lemhi Fairgrounds.
August 1st through 6th - Custer County Fair, in which the club was invited to set up a display, promoting 4H, their group, and the plight of the wild Abaco Barb horses.
August 19th through August 28th - Lemhi County Fair went off without a hitch, with the club's display earning all members blue ribbons on their record books! In addition, two members did extremely well in the fair's Demonstration & Speech contests. While working the fair's pop booth, other members braided up more Abaco Barb bookmarks which sold out between the Lemhi Co. Fair, the State Leaders� forum in Post Falls, and the Western Regional Forum in Salt Lake.
September ?? - Blackfoot County Fair was equally as nice saw our group's model club display set up there. Goal is to eventually begin hosting future state model horse shows there as interest in model horses & 4-H model groups grows.
September 17th - On 4-H Achievement Night, members received their project completion stickers and their Abaco Barb Youth Project certificates. In addition, the club was in charge of getting items for their annual dollar auction.
September 21st - monthly Club meeting & club yr-end party, with both a photo clinic & mini-packing clinic planned.
October 3rd - Voice of the Valley interview, Breyer Day and National 4-H Week. October also marked the beginning of the new club year, with a planned new membership drive.
October 8th - Breyer Fun Day went well with ten youth participating in the stablemate painting and costume contest, and lots of positive comments on the club's store window display. The three members that helped plan and host the event received Special Edition Tristan models by Breyer.
October 17th - The club had a special display at the State Leader�s Forum, filled with posters & models. Peaked alot of interest about the 4H model horse project and received lots of positive attention.
November 16th - monthly Club Meeting where members made model horse blankets, Arabian/Knight costumes. Discussed upcoming projects and handed out new record books and check-off lists.
November 26th - Tack Day, members made western saddles, thank-you boot cards for club supporters, and pine basket center pieces for the Discovery Care Center. Discussed and drew up class list for upcoming model horse show next spring.
December 10th - Bake sale fundraiser at King's ... selected gift for the annual "Christmas-is-Sharing" program as part of our community service project. In addition, made special thank-you goodie trays for King's, KSRA, AtoZ, Recorder Herald, and other club supporters.
December 14th - Club meeting & Christmas Party. Officially launched new "Cash for Critters" cell phone/ink cartridge recycling program, to further fundraise for Arkwild/WHOA (the Abaco Barb Horses).
