The first episode of Dragonball Z starts off with a lot of action, as the characters have already been introduced in Dragonball. Raditz, Goku's evil brother, travels to Earth in his space ship hoping to either bring Goku back to his side, or kill him. After Raditz kidnaps Gohan, Goku and Piccolo are forced into a fight. Piccolo, still holding a grudge over Goku, quickly agreed to his plan, and used his Special Beam Cannon to kill both Saiyans while Goku held Raditz from behind. |

Saiyan Saga |

The Saiyan Saga begins when two more evil Saiyans, Nappa and Vegeta, come to Earth with the expectations of easy world domination. The Earthlings are certainly no match for their superior strength, so they assemble the Dragonballs and use them to wish Goku back to life. He, meanwhile, is in Other World, and training with King Kai on his own little personal planet. When Goku finally returns to Earth, he uses his new strength to quickly overcome Nappa, and is also stronger than Vegeta. After Vegeta transforms into his ape form in a desperate attempt and is forced back to normal later, Goku has him cornered. However, Goku shows Vegeta mercy and lets him go in hopes of fighting him later. |

Namek Saga |

Here's the problem - Piccolo, Chaotzu, Yamcha, and Tien were killed during the fight against Vegeta and Nappa. You might think that they could easily be brought back just like Goku by the Dragonballs - wrong. You might've failed to realize that the Dragonballs don't work if the creator is dead, Kami made the Dragonballs, Kami's lifeforce is connected with Piccolo's, and of course, Piccolo is dead. So, plans were made to travel to Namek, where another set of Dragonballs are located. Gradually, Bulma, Gohan, Krillin, Vegeta (not good, but not totally evil), and Goku travel to Namek. The first obstacle is the Ginyu Squad, a 5-member team of elite fighters hired by the mighty Frieza to assemble and protect the Dragonballs. Frieza hopes to wish for immortality from the Dragon. After defeating the Ginyu Squad, Zarbon, Dodoria, and sneaking past both Vegeta and Frieza, the good guys summon the Dragon, specifically Gohan, Krillin, and Dende. Piccolo is wished back to life, and meanwhile Goku is still recovering from the battle with Captain Ginyu. |
