Poems For Winter
Star

I looked for you again tonight
It's too cloudy out
Why are they hiding you from me?
I'm needing you so much right now

"The moon is your cradle
The sky is your playground"
And then there's the stuff which I don't really know if it's real or not
But it hurts just the same

These tears are for you
And all these wounds are too
This writing is only ever about you

Your memory now etched
Near to where you joined me
And left me... too soon
Now I can touch you
And pretend, at least
And remember, for ever.
This is for you

It's dark but there are no stars out tonight
In stories you'd have become one
I'll find you there tomorrow
That's where you went (way up high)
My sparkle under your navy blanket

I hope it's not to cold up there
And I hope you're not too lonely
But more than this
I hope you'll remember me
And my love for you (like no other)
As I can never ever forget

You will stay with me forever
Though just a memory (and a star)
If only you could have stayed as more
But I'm glad you couldn't feel
And never can what I am

I wish I could have known you though
And I wish you could have just opened your eyes
But more than this
I wish I could have held your hand
And kissed your tiny nose

So sorry I failed you.
