When Smallville first began the creators wanted to set the tv series apart from
other tellings of the Superman mythology so they made a rule "no tights, no
flights." So how does Clark get around quickly enough to save people from
danger? In Smallville we see a lot of the phrase "faster than a speeding bullet"
becoming a reality.
Clark had this ability since the
show began, however, you see it grow and him become
faster.
When we watch Smallville and see him go by
in super-speed mode, we usually see a blur. This blur is for our advantage. The
other characters see nothing. He is faster than the eye can
see.
The show presents a new aspect of the Superman
mythology-- "Clark time." Clark time is what Clark sees while he's in
super-speed mode as seen in the collage above in the bottom
left.
How about A
Funny?
One of the few people to
know Clark's secret is his best friend Chloe. One day Clark needed some advice
on his short-lived relationship with Lana Lang, so he went to Chloe. He zipped
into her dorm room and blew her papers all over the room from his super-speed.
She looks up at him and says "Clark! Could you at least put on the breaks BEFORE
you tornado my homework?"
