Clark went to find Pete and the thief took a blow torch to Clark's eyes and broke up the scar tissue. At first Clark saw only blurry and it improved over time. While his eyes were healing he wore his world famous disguise as seen on the right in the picture above.

Pete had been kidnapped by the very man who robbed the jewelry store and Clark of his sight. Clark had to learn how to focus his hearing so he could find Pete. Jonathan and Martha found him out in the barn with every equipment he could find running and Clark desperately trying to hear the radio. Clark became frustrated so Jonathan and Martha came to Clark's aide and helped him learn to control his Super-Hearing.

Like blind humans, Clark's other senses were hightened--actually just his hearing. He began to hear things amplified to the point where it hurt his ears. He could hear the grinding of a lock to a student's backpack's zipper. He could also hear things from far away. In another part of the school he heard Chloe talking to Lionel about her investigating Clark.

Clark first developed his Super-Hearing in episode 3.10 Whisper. A meteor freak comes into the jewelry store that Clark's at and sends out a high-pitched signal much like an insect. Clark tried to stop him with his Heat Vision and it was reflected back into his eyes by Kryptonite . This infection of Kryptonite caused Clark to go blind.
