In 1989 the world's largest meteor shower hit Smallville.
So, what does this have to do with Clark? Everything. The meteor shower
was used as a cover up for Kal-El/Clark's arrival. The meteor shower tore the
town apart and cause severe damage to more than just the town itself. Lana Lang's
parents were killed by a direct hit from a meteor. Little Lana, who was 3
years old at the time, saw her parents die and never really got over it. Lex
Luthor was exposed to the meteors and that is why he is bald. Not to mention
that many of the town residents, or "meteor freaks," have been affected by
these meteors better known as. With this meteor shower came the only deadly
thing to Kal-El/Clark/Superman--Kryptonite.
Those who don't know Clark's secret refer to them as "meteor rocks."
