Note: This is NOT an AD&D pencil and paper style RPG. This is a story writing RPG, no dice, no pens, no paper, just a group of people working together to spin an interesting story in the Slayers Universe.
When Adopting or Creating a Character:
- Read the rules. If you don't, it's likely you will mess something up and not be accepted.
- Only one character per person.
- Although it's not too much of a problem in Slayers, you cannot play an "alternate form" of a character, for example Filia's dragon form as opposed to her human form. All characters with multiple forms are considered one character altogether.
- If you're not accepted, we will try to say why. Please, fix the problem and try again. Keep trying; you're sure to succeed eventually.
- If the character was designed by someone else, please send us a copy of their okay letter. This is just for our reference so we can make sure that no one is keeping others from having a chance.
- If you are changing a character, you must first complete the current story as the old character before any changes come into effect.
Character Creation rules can be found on the Character Creation Page.
Regarding Your E-mail Address:
- Two different players may share one e-mail address. No more than that.
- Make sure your e-mail server is reliable. Hotmail or Yahoo! are fine for getting a free account.
- NO CHAIN LETTERS, AT ALL, PERIOD, END OF DISCUSSION! Violators will be permanently kicked.
As A Member of the Slayers RPG:
- Abusing another player because you wanted his/her character will NOT be tolerated under ANY circumstances.
- If you are leaving for a long period of time, send a note to the mailing list. This way, everyone will know and you won't be kicked for lack of participation.
- People like support, so please do support your fellow players. It means a lot, trust us. For example, try to include other players in scenes you write; or if one character has been ignored a bit recently, try to start a conversation with them or something.
- Do not establish a love relationship with another character UNLESS you have that character's permission. You can, however, still have your character like that person. There just can't be any mutual relationship without permission.
Regarding the Stories:
- Anything can happen plot-wise, but if it involves something nasty happening to a player, PLEASE get their permission before you write it. Also, this includes them getting into awkward situations. When in doubt, ask permission, that's all.
- Hugging and kissing is alright... to an extent. PLEASE keep all naughty activities involving members of the opposite sex (or the same one for that matter) out of the stories. If it must be there, please make it an off-stage event. This kind of stuff can get us in trouble with the service providers.
- Slayers cannot possibly exist without violence. Just don't make it too... gruesome. No body parts flying about or guts covering people. We want people to be able to eat and read this without losing their lunch. Keep in mind the Slayers style of combat.
- Members who exhibit any "I am Invincible!" behavior WILL be kicked. All player characters can (and, more than likely, will) be harmed by high level spells (like the Dragon Slave). Powerful spells WILL cause pain; maybe not death, but definitely pain. Be fair in battle, and have your character take damage like everyone else.
- Spells: English or Japanese? Whenever possible, please use the English names of the spells. If you absolutely MUST use the Japanese names, we will not stop you, go right ahead, but please try to use the English ones.
- English or Japanese Round II: Slayers is a Japanese anime, and there are many who like it subbed, many who like it dubbed, and a few who like both. You may use Japanese in your posts if you so desire. However, please keep in mind that we would like to keep the story as uniform as possible.
- Please keep abusive language and profanity down to a minimum. The Slayers cast doesn't use it; you shouldn't need to, either.
- Finals are a part of all our lives. If your school is nearing final week, notify us as soon as possible. We will try to put a hold on the story for a little bit until it's over. If we cannot hold, you are invited to entrust someone to write your character temporarily for you. [If you accept an invitation like this for anyone, please be sure to ask them in the event an abnormal situation comes to play (i.e. a romantic interest, etc).] Once your busy time has passed, notify us and the substitute player, and you can go back to playing your character normally.
- Need help? The Slayers Universe has just about all the information you could ever need. Also, just ask, we'll help you the best we can.
How Writing the Story Works:
All members of the group are members of a mailing list. You will get a welcome message from the list upon acceptance. Before you begin writing, take some time to see what's going on, discuss stuff with the other players if you want to, then jump in and write your character a reasonable entrance to the story (try to avoid the *poof* "I'm here, I know everyone" routine, if you can).
The most important rule of all: HAVE FUN!
