JQ has been no stranger to Hip-hop. I
have been experiencing Hip-Hop starting from the early 80's when his family
traveled with is father, a retired Army Sergeant Major,
throughout the US and Central America. When I returned back to the states
I experiecend Hip-Hop from Afrika BamBattaa, Grand Master Flash, RUN DMC, and
Fat Boys. When JQs father retired from the military, he resided in his
hometown of Leighton and then moved to Muscle Shoals. This is when my LOVE
of the game began. I entered talent shows and contests in the area.
Later I performed with other local artists, then he met Sean "Whyze Up"
Alexander and Geoffrey "GMan" Robinson -who all later became the infamous SLAVE
KAMP, a band of conscience writers, "fie" producers & MC's.
JQ was also featured on several regional releases, such as:
"Quad Cities Rap" by Chubb Fresh, "Realities" & "Collectors Item" by GMan, "Mr.
Technique Volume1" by Van Johnson, and "The Adventures of Rudideville" by
Rudideville.
The group has been opening for established acts such as: TI,
Calhouns, Rakim, Goodie MOB, 2 Live Crew. The Kamp has put in work
and still remains to keep their serious work ethic. JQ is also a "HOT"
producer and has produced tracks for the soon to be releases Slave Kamp album,
"Saturday Nite Special". With reality and witty street wise rhymes, JQ
gives the Kamp a little sawed off "Suthun" funk. So, listeners keep your
ears open because JQ and Slave Kamp have something to say.....
