I SEE

blue white almost blue white
my imagination
so they tell me
blue white almost blue white
can't see outside my eyes
SUE WILLIAMS
dunes
drinking the air

the pad of heavy footsteps like a meditation
black monkey, banyan, millipede
we pass farmers, an old woman at her cow
manking, lizard, white butterfly
mist drifting in rainforest green
windflower, cicada, grasshopper
it rained last night and the earth is oily

the stamping ground

pink dawn in a troubled sky
the brood of saturated earth
winter eddies in with the west wind
car headlights pass like lines of a frown

always somethin wheels in autumn
sleek gull or brittle leaf
a defiant reminder of carefree summer
an bisectin the patterns just me

who am ah to force this pace?
let a sigh be a laugh
a weary look a bright gaze
the flying V a tick of simple content

for the tock is my hands in my pockets
a measure of time in this place
so winter is winter, as summer was summer
an ahl wheel with the gulls to that end.

mum on a bodyboard
dad in a wetsuit
nana in a bathing hat
ha ha ha
bible club doing their mission
listen

faces you'll never see again
till the service station
which is just as well
coz there's only so long
you can smile
at a rather large lady
in a pink sarong
