The Paula�s Choice line was started after the success of Paula Begoun�s book Don�t Go To The Cosmetic�s Counter Without Me, which was one of the first books on the market to discuss individual ingredients used in personal care products and how they affect the skin. It was different than many of the other books out there because it touched on both active ingredients and ingredients to avoid. Building on that she came out with her line of skin, makeup, and hair care products.
Many individuals like this line because there is a lot of explanation behind the ingredients used in it on the website (both the active ones and regular texture-enhancing compounds as well). This in the very least lets the consumer know that this company is aware of everything in its formulas, instead of most companies that buy formulas from outside formulators then just produce the finished product without really knowing specifically how its interacting with the skin. We also like the options the Paula�s Choice line offers, because they do give consumers a choice depending on their individual needs (such as products specifically for very oily or very dry skin).
However, while this is a very good personal care line, it's emphasis isn't really on anti-aging. Paula's Choice has wonderful moisturizers and effective cleansers, but no real products that focus specifically on aging. The Antioxidant Concentrate product comes close as it does have a number of effective antioxidants in it that prevent free radical damage, but it still does not have amino acid peptides or alpha hydroxy acid to counter other signs of aging. This line seems to be more geared towards younger skin thatt needs more "age prevention," but doesn't really have a group of products for reversing damage, wrinkles, age spots, etc in already matured skin .
