Kinerase products are based around the ingredient Kinetin that is a cytokine used by plants to protect their structure from environmental damage. There are some studies that show this substance has an effect on slowing the aging process of cells, which makes it a promising ingredient for skin care formulas. However, it should be noted that the majority of these studies were performed by Dr. Suresh I. S. Rattan who conveniently also holds the patent for its use in cosmetics. So it�s difficult to know how much of the claims are based on science and how much are based on profit from holding an exclusive patent.
One thing is for sure. Kinerase is certainly profiting because this line has had very strong sales for the past several years and continues to climb in price. The new �Pro + Therapy� line retails for as much as $149 for a 1.7oz jar and the �Core Collection� (i.e. the original formulas) cost just a little under this mark. Reviewers had widely varying experiences with this product line from excellent to some adverse effects (mostly breaking out). All in all most reviews have been favorable for this line, but at such a high price point many will not be able to sustain usage of these products, and there are products with more thoroughly tested active ingredients on the market that are worth considering.
