"Why was his year so great?," you might wonder.

Well, to put it simply -- I met the perfect woman, the one I was meant to marry.

Yeah, I hear ya --- WOW. I am quite amazed myself.

But let me back up a bit, and flesh out the story a little. See, Kelly (that's her name, btw) and I met on True.com in January, when by pure luck True sent an email to a whole bunch of women that basically said, "Here's a new guy -- check him out." Kelly saw the email and my picture, and thought "Too far away" (she lives in San Bernardino, CA). Then she was (luckily) curious enough to read my profile, and thought that I had one of the best profiles she'd read -- but, again, too far away.

She sent me an email that basically said, "This is obviously never going to happen because of the distance, but I like your profile, I think you're pretty cool, and I think if it weren't for us being so far away from each other, we could totally hang out."

Then we just kept emailing each other. I don't mean, short, "What's up?" emails -- I mean long emails, and very frequent. This went on for months. Eventually I asked for her phone number. Just like our emails, we talked for hours.

By early July, we both had huges crushes on each other, but were like "I'm not telling him/her! This can't be real!" -- you know, just totally shocked at the connection we had. Finally it came to be that my friend Vonn's son Garrett (GarrettGuilkey.com) was racing in California. So I asked Kelly if the track in Irwindale was anywhere near her -- she said it was, and that I should come out and we could hang out and catch the race together.

We met that weekend in July, felt this amazing attraction for each other, and have been together ever since. As a matter-of-fact, we just got engaged on Dec. 30th.

I just absolutely adore this woman, and I'm madly in love. So, if you see me, congratulate me and wish us the best.

And who knows, maybe some of you will be getting wedding invitations some time soon!
