The Toasters Concert Review. First Band - The Speakeasies: Pat, the Speakeasies were the best band i've ever seen or heard in my life. (that was an inside joke) Real review: eh, weren't anything too special. Good musicians, but the music wasn't to good. A little too mellow for me. Second Band: Cappuccino Jellybeans - These guys were great. They sounded just like Less Than Jake. I've heard their stuff and most of it is ska, but they played most of they're punk with horns songs. I would definitely go to see these guys again if the played near me. I recommend you check these guys out. They had a 20 minute set. That was kinda dissapointing. Third Band - Slack Jaw - I saw these guys a when i was into ska, but not really into punk. I didn't really like them when i first saw them, but they sounded good that night. Fourth Band - Pointless - In the next couple bands is where i lost all my energy. This was a great band. We finally got to skank, and skank we did. That's all my friend and i did during they're set. We skanked and yelled at my other friend for not dancing. That was a fun band. Fifth band - Flaming Tsunamis - another good band. To many saxophones though. Is it necessary to have 4 saxophones, my point exactly. They were pretty good, but pointless was better. The highlight of this band was a cover of the Big D and the Kids Table's "Draw the Line". Sixth Band - Switch Stance - This band was great, ya know why, it gave me a chance to sit down and preserve my energy. I wanna know why these guys decided to play there. They were Limp Bizkit wannabe's. Seventh Band - Monty's Fan Club - They didn't show up. Eighth Band - The Toasters - These guys are awesome performers. As soon as rob hingley played wild thing on his guitar my energy was restored. My friend was mad they didn't play secret agent man, but i knew they wouldn't play it. I was a little dissapointed they didn't play "i'm running right through the world". Although only two original members were supposed to be there the concert brought the return of Sledge, they're trumpet player. They now have the original members Rob, Jack, and sledge. They're new members play bass, drums, trombone (the trombone player was in the skunks), and saxophone (the saxophone player was from the skoidats, one of my favorite bands). I hurt my voice by screaming "Skoidats rule!!!!!" at him. Apparently he noticed because after a song he cam down and shook my hand, then went back up and played the last song. Then after the show i was talking to him and he said the skoidats were pretty nice guys. HMMM, who knew? Wanna see pictures of the concert? Click here. |
