All-American
Choco Chip Cookies
INGREDIENTS
  • ¾ c lard or shortening
  • 1 ¼, c well packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 whole egg
  • 2 c sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp fine salt
  • ¾ tsp sifted baking soda dissolved in 1 tbsp water
  • ½ c milk
  • ½ c coarsely chopped cashew nuts
  • All-American Choco Chip Cookies
    PROCEDURES
    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
    2. Line 2 cookie sheets with aluminum foil. Set aside.
    3. Using an electric mixer, cream the lard together with the brown sugar and vanilla extract. Add the egg and beat until well blended.
    4. Pour in the flour, salt, and baking soda. Continue beating until well incorporated.
    5. Using a wooden spoon or rubber scraper, stir in the chocolate chips and nuts.
    6. Form the cookie dough into balls of about an inch in diameter. If the cokie batter is too soft, chill or freeze briefly until it is easy to handle.
    7. Arrange them in prepared cookie sheets leaving about two inches space in between as allowance for spreading.
    8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are brown.
